Become a Plus Size Model
If you want to become a plus size model, and looking for informative information to help you on that career path, you have come to the right place.

Plus size models are usually between size 12 - 28 and their height is usually 5'7- 5'11.
First of all read these step, and decide whether you have the right answers and approach to become a plus size model.
•Decide if the modeling industry is right for you. Take a look through magazines and catalogs and get a feel for how the models look, including the way they pose, their body type etc.
•Take a few test shots with some friends or family.
•If you like being in front of the camera and believe you are photogenic, then practice moving in clothing and finding your right look, a hairstyle that fits your face (choose one that is easy to maintain and one that is easy to style for different looks in modeling). If there is anything that you need take care of, for example, ends, clearing, exercise to tone areas, then take action and do so.
•Make sure you meet the height and size requirements.
•Seek out local modeling agencies in your area and find out what their exact requirements are for submitting your photographs or for open calls. Open calls are when the agencies set time aside to see new models.
•Once you find the agencies you want, schedule a test shoot - it can be with a friend or family member or you can have professional photos taken. It is not necessary that they be professional.
•The photos should be clear and not blurry. There should be no-one else photographed in the pictures with you. At least one photo should be a headshot, one a good smile shot, one full length, and one a body shot in shorts and tank (whatever you are comfortable wearing) or a swimsuit.
•Submit your photos to the agencies you have chosen. There are three ways to submit your photos: email to the relevant "plus size division"; or send a letter of introduction with your photos attached via ordinary mail; or go to an open call at the agency and meet with them in person, as this way they can not only see you but will also get to see your personality. Make sure you know your stats (height, dress sizes, age, hair color, eye color, shoe size). If you don't know your measurements, have someone take them for you. Write them down and carry them with you or include them in your e-mail or letter.

• Your skin should be clear and blemish-free
• Don't wear heavy makeup
• Keep nails neat and manicured

What does it take to become a successful model? many aspring model asks. There are millions of young, bright, attractive people who want to get into modeling, but only a small percentage find any success at it.
Why is that you ask? Simply because they don't possess all of the following key elements of a successful model.
Determination: Many young actors, actresses and models fail to reach their potential simply because they don't have enough drive and desire to overcome the inevitable slumps and setbacks they encounter. They simply quit. And if you do want to become a successful model, quitting should not be a option.
Professional Attitude: Modeling is a business, pure and simple. It can be great fun, but professional photographers, art directors, casting directors, and video graphers are in the business of creating images for a profit. Their time is money, and so is yours. Treat these professionals as you would expect to be treated when it comes to time. Don't waste their time by not being punctual or ready to work at the scheduled start time, because it doesn't reflect a good attitude on you.
The most beautiful model in the world will run out of work if she constantly wastes people's time by being late, (or not showing at all), or by not being prepared to work.
Good Work Ethic:Experienced actors, actresses and models know that there is not a steady stream of work at all times. By being aggressive with your self promotion and focusing on continually marketing your skills, you can create more work opportunities. When work opportunities arise, be prepared to do your best. As your best will get you noticed for more future assisgnments.
Imagination:Use your unique look and thoughts to create something that makes you special. There are a million pretty faces out there, but if you offer a unique look or attitude, you can create a demand for your services. Be creative when you put your portfolio together and use your best shots for your promotional materials. Collaborate with your photographers to come up with something really special that just screams who you are.
Networking Skills:All good business people create networks of clients that are constantly growing. actors, actresses and models are no different. You need to find ways to reach potential clients and generate more work and more clients from referrals and other network techniques. Of the clients you work with, ask them for referrals to other opportunities for you. And if a client was referred to you, always let them know who referred them.
The common networking rule is that for every satisfied client you have they, in turn, will tell 2-5 others about you, but for every dissatisfied client, 10 potential new clients will hear the bad news. (negativity alway seems to spread faster then positively)
Never burn your bridges with clients. You may not want to work with them any more, and that is fine, but never, never be rude or unprofessional. It only harms yourself.
Always make it a goal to either work a number of times with a client or get referrals to others from them. Work makes work in this business.
Discipline:Be prepared for work. Develop the discipline to keep your valuable assets, (smile, face, figure, or what ever else you model), in good shape. Have your portfolio ready when you get a go-see, (interview or test shoot), and have your promotional materials, (headshots, zed cards, and resumes), ready for any potential interview or marketing opportunity.
This chance may not come around again. Have the discipline to be a go-getter, not a wanna-be.

Modeling tips for men: part 2
So you want to become a male model? well you have come to the right place for modeling tips for men. Firstly, build up your modeling skills by looking at pictures of other male models. Look at the poses they pull, the stance in which they stand and the way in which they are trying to be percieved.

Now make up some poses yourself, it's best to have a full length mirror on your wall or something like that because you can just stand in front of it for as long as you need to, practising new pouts and stances.Don't let anyone tell you you're vein, because it doesn't matter too much if you are, as long as you aren't self-absorbed and have some sort of awareness to the world around you.

Don't be put off by other people including model agencies and fashion guru's, they may know a lot but you need to savour their critical comments to make you stronger as a person and as a model. If people tell you that you can't be a model then think about why they're saying this and use it to improve on yourself, not QUIT.
As i said earlier, look at pictures of other male models and use them as your guinea pigs to copy poses off of them, but only to help you build up your modeling skills.
Practise in your room or in any space for that matter-but practise what?- Well you can practise catwalk, fashion poses, modeling of clothes of fragrences-you can take pictures of yourself and evaluate them accordingly.
You have to build up a portfolio (this is like a folder/file whatever you want to call it that contains as many pictures of yourself as you see fit) to send off to agencies like Storm.
Ask a friend to take pictures of you if you find it too much of a struggle to do it yourself.
Ask for opinions from other people as to whether or not you could be a model, but remember NOT to take negative feedback too seriously as you can use it to improve your weak points.
WarningsWhen going for a photoshoot with ANYONE make sure you take along a trusted member of your family or a friend who can make sure nothing dodgy goes on, remember stafely first.
Don't EVER be pressured into letting anyone take any pictures you don't feel comfortable with. However if, for example, you wanted to do nude shoots or anything of that nature- feel free, but remember it's your choice because YOU are the model.
Research everything you can to do with modeling before you start to take it seriously. From the moment you show up, pay attention, act professional so people will enjoy working with you, and offer you more work.If you are going on an audition or casting call do not bring friends, children or parents (unless you are under 18) because most agencies will not accept it. However for safety reasons, if you are unsure about the company or person you are going to see, we advise you bring someone.
4. Be Yourself always be yourself, relax and be comfortable because it all ends up showing when you get in front of the camera. Being yourself also means being honest when asked questions or asked for your opinions. Do not be intimidated or pressured into doing something you are not comfortable with, for example if you are not comfortable with nudes or implied nudity do not do it to please the photographer, simply say no.

Step 1. Do Some Reading we highly reccmmend that you do some research by reading about the modeling industry so you can be aware of the way the industry works, the scams and also to better prepare yourself to get involved
Step 2. Build a PortfolioYou are going to need some professional photos other than the snap shots you have to build your portfolio. Do not spend hundreds of dollars on this, instead ask photographers for test shoots, get involved in modeling shows, or volunteer to model for a college photo class. Collect all the photos you get and put at least ten good shots into a nice portfolio binder, now you have something to show agencies and clients. The more photo shoots you do the more experience you get.
Remember the modeling business is very competitive and there will always be someone who is taller, prettier and in better shape than you, so keep a positive attitude, learn to deal with rejection and you will do just fine.Also remember you cannot buy a modeling career so beware of people who will try to sell you your dream with expensive portoflios, photo shoots and pointless modeling classes.
It is obvious that you are determined to become a model because you have read this far and that is a great sign. Remember it is all about your attitude, knowing your role and expsoing yourself to the right people.

These physical preparations, however, all go for naught if there’s something wrong about your attitude towards the job. Confidence is always essential not only for male models, but also for anyone in any given field.
As a male model, you must be secure in how you look and your modeling ability. Anything less than unwavering self-confidence will result in a half-hearted performance of your job that will be apparent in pictures or on the runway.
Now when we say be confident, we don’t mean that you should be too confident. Remember that there are designers, choreographers and coaches who will tell you what they need from you during photo shoots and shows, so you should be flexible and open to suggestions from these people.
And it would be of great importance if you show up for these gigs in a good mood, because a good mood shines through in the results. If you’re nervous about the job, bringing favorite CDs or any other stuff that could make you feel comfortable while on the job is a great idea.

Basic of fashion modeling
So you want to become a fashion model? well you've come to the right palce to get a little insight in the modeling business.
A lot of girls (and even some guys) want to be a model because it's glamorous. However, it's an extremely competitive and grueling business that will more likely break you than make you. Here are some cold, hard truths about becoming a model, as well as some realistic advice to make it happen.
Realize that there are qualities every model needs to have, depending on the type of model one wishes to become. Generally, any feature indicative of good health is a must--clear skin, a full head of hair, and overall symmetry. Other qualities such as height and weight depend on what you're modeling.
Decide what kind of model you'd like to be. Technically, anybody can be a model. However, do remember that if you don't meet certain requirements, the work available to you will be incredibly limited, and you may have to compensate in other departments (reliability, technique, etc).
You can be quite thin and toned yet still quite curvy to be an average model, or big and curvy to be a plus size model.
If you're tall (at the very least 5'7) and very skinny but with a small breast size, you can be a catwalk model.
If you have large breasts but not very wide hips, you can be an underwear model.
If you don't fit any of the face or body descriptions, perhaps you can be a foot, hair or hand model.
Get some photos done. These don't have to be professional but they should be created for the purpose of showing your ability as a model. Although agencies say they are happy with snapshots, that doesn't mean they want to see an out of focus shot of you out partying with your friends with a little note attached saying that you're the one on the right! As a bare minimum, you will need one headshot and one body shot.
Get a website. It helps spread the word that you're out there and also serves as a place for your adoring fans.
Look up the number of a reputable modeling agency. You can find these in your area phone book or by running a search on the Internet. Make an appointment.
Be prepared. When you attend your appointment, they might ask you to pull certain faces like laughing, happy, sad, or seductive. Practice in front of a mirror beforehand. It may help to look at pictures of models in magazines to get an idea. They will ask you to walk and take your measurements, so be prepared for all of that as well.
Be polite and always turn up on time to any appointment or shoot. If you're late or rude, word soon gets around and then nobody will want to work with you.
If going to an interview with an agency isn't something you want to do right now or just doesn't seem right for you, you can consider entering modeling contests. However, make sure you check that these are being run by a reputable agency.
If, for whatever reason, you've decided signing with an agency isn't right for you, you could consider going freelance. But be warned- the pay is usually considerably less and there are fewer safety precautions.
Confirm whether or not there will be a make-up artist on site for any work you are doing. 99 times out of 100 there will be but there may be the odd occasion where you are required to do your own make-up. If there is a make-up artist, then arrive fresh faced.
Be aware of the fact that if you become one of the top models like Noami Campdell , Tyra Banks the people you work for might ask you to take drastic measures to stay a top model. For example, they might ask you to get nose jobs, liposuction, or have breast implants. And lose more weight.
Other models can be mean, but you're still going to have to smile and hug them for the photos.
Get your parents' permission if you're under 21.
It is recommended that you get some sort of training. Like doctors, lawyers, or any major profession a degree and certain amount of training to acquire proper skills is highly necessary. Fashion modeling books are a great resource to help you in becoming a model and to educate you on the business. Some modeling schools are licensed by the Board of Education.
However, whether or not they will teach you have to become a model is questionable and some agencies even say that attending a modeling school can teach you bad habits that are hard to unlearn! They are also expensive.
Be organized! Models often get called off places at the last minute and have very busy days. You need to be on top of things if you want to succeed. Buying a day-to-day planner can really help.
Modeling is a tough business. Try not to be discouraged by rejections. Even top models still get rejected for about 70% of everything they are put forward for! Dont let people get you down!
Learn to accept rejection politely. Thank the people for their time.
Be truthful about your measurements. Don't say you're skinnier than you are just to get a shoot. Once there, the stylist will have problems and you will get found out. Word will get around and you could find yourself without a career.
Be wary of any agency that asks for money up front. The majority of agencies get their money through commission- meaning they take a certain percentage of your pay for every job that you do. If you don't work, then they don't get paid. If you've already paid up, there's no incentive for them to find you work.
If you are sure that they are an agency, listen carefully to what they are asking for the fees for. Bigger agencies in bigger markets will often pay for these for you or at least loan you the money but smaller agencies or agencies in smaller markets can't afford to do this.
If the fees are to cover actual representation, this probably isn't a good deal. Although there are some good agencies out there who work on this basis, the majority are nothing more than con artists. Find models who they represent, get in touch with them and ask them what they think of the representation they are getting.
Know your limits on style and nudity. If you don't want to do glamour work or are uncomfortable doing full nudity, speak up and don't let people push you past those limits. Also, consider where you want your career to go in the future. Sure, you may be comfortable doing glamour now, but what if you decide you want to do fashion or catalog work in the future? You might be discriminated against if they know you have done this line of work.
Be aware that the pressure of modeling can cause a lot of long term mental health problems, including eating disorders. Don't be afraid to speak to somebody if you think it is getting all too much. If you just can't handle the pressure, it may be time to start thinking of a new profession. A job isn't worth your health!
If you are invited to a foreign country (i.e. Hong Kong, Macau etc.) for an audition or job, have enough funds to purchase a return ticket yourself. While legitimate jobs exist, there are many scams that provide one way tickets then trap young girls into prostitution rings when they cannot afford to go back home.
If you are planning a photo shoot with a photographer you have met online, it is highly recommended that you bring a chaperone to the shoot. It's for your own safety, as you never know who is who online!
If you can't bring a chaperon (because you are unable to find one or because the photographer doesn't allow chaperons), make sure you do a background search on the photographer first- check out things such as who they have worked with and for and call somebody when you get
to the shoot and when you leave the shoot.
Things you'll need
At least three good head shots and several full body shots wearing different outfits, in different poses, and don't forget to add a b&w picture as well to send into agencies.
Confidence will play the largest per cent of what you will need, all the head shots and poses won't mean a thing if you don't believe in yourself.
